Morozoff Limited (モロゾフ株式会社, Morozofu Kabushiki Gaisha) is a famous company in Japan. It makes delicious sweets like chocolate, pudding, and cake. The company's main office is in Kobe, Japan.
Morozoff was started in 1931 by Fedor Dmitrievich Morozoff. He was a person who moved to Japan from Russia. Since then, Morozoff has grown a lot. Today, it has over 950 stores, cafes, and restaurants all over Japan.
Morozoff and Valentine's Day
Morozoff is very well known in Japan for something special. It was the first company to introduce Valentines Day to the country.
In 1936, Morozoff placed an advertisement. It was in a newspaper called the Japan Advertiser. This newspaper was mostly for people from other countries living in Japan. The ad said, “For your Valentine, Make A Present of Morozoff’s Fancy Box Chocolates.”
Even though Morozoff started this idea, Valentine's Day did not become popular right away. It took some time. After World War II, in the 1950s and 1960s, other stores and companies also started celebrating it. That's when Valentine's Day truly became a big event across Japan.
