Discovering Mossyrock's Past
Mossyrock started as a trading post way back in 1852. It got its name from a huge, 200-foot-tall rock covered in moss. This rock was located at the east end of Klickitat Prairie. The local Native American name for this area was Coulph.
Mossyrock officially became a city on January 2, 1948.
In late 2020, the city council discussed rules for restaurants. They decided to follow the state's health guidelines. Restaurants in Mossyrock continued to operate safely.

The 2010 census showed that 759 people lived in Mossyrock. There were 272 households, and 196 of these were families.

Fun Things to Do in Mossyrock
Annual Blueberry Festival
Mossyrock hosts a special event every year called the Blueberry Festival. It's a three-day celebration that happens on the first weekend of August. This festival honors the many blueberry farms in the area.
The festival started in 2006 and has become very popular. It takes up all of Klickitat Prairie Park. You can find fun activities like pie eating contests, farm tours, and car shows. There are also musical performances to enjoy.
The Mossyrock Area Action League organizes the festival. They make sure there are lots of family-friendly activities. This includes games and crafts especially for kids.
Modern Connections in Mossyrock
Mossyrock is part of a cool project to help electric vehicles (EVs). It's one of eight places getting EV charging stations along the White Pass Scenic Byway. This project helps people with electric cars travel easily from the White Pass Ski Area to Chehalis.
This effort began in 2023. It's a partnership between local groups, state agencies, and the Lewis County PUD. They received over $1.8 million in grants to make this happen.
