Motoo Tatsuhara (立原 元夫, Tatsuhara Motoo, January 14, 1913 – ?) was a Japanese football player. He was a midfielder who played for the Japan national team. He is remembered for his part in the "Miracle of Berlin" at the 1936 Summer Olympics.

Playing for Clubs
Motoo Tatsuhara was born in Shinagawa, Tokyo on January 14, 1913. He played football for a team called Waseda WMW. This team was made up of players and graduates from his university, Waseda University.
Playing with Top Players
While playing for Waseda WMW, Tatsuhara played alongside many other famous Japanese national team players. Some of these players included Taizo Kawamoto, Tadao Horie, Yasuo Suzuki, Kunitaka Sueoka, and Takashi Kano.
Emperor's Cup Success
In 1940, his team, Waseda WMW, finished second in the Emperor's Cup. This was a very important football tournament in Japan. The tournament was then paused for several years because of a big war called World War II. It did not happen again until 1946.
Playing for Japan's National Team

In May 1934, while still a student at Waseda University, Tatsuhara was chosen to play for the Japan national team. He played in the 1934 Far Eastern Championship Games in Manila.
First International Game
His first game for Japan was on May 13, 1934. He played against the team from the Dutch East Indies.
The "Miracle of Berlin"
In 1936, Tatsuhara was again selected for the Japan team. This time, they went to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. In their first game, Japan played against Sweden. Japan was losing, but they made an amazing comeback and won the game.
This victory was Japan's first-ever win in football at the Olympics. It was a huge surprise because Sweden was a very strong team. This historic win became known as the "Miracle of Berlin" in Japan.

In 2016, this special 1936 Olympic team, including Motoo Tatsuhara, was honored. They were chosen for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. Tatsuhara played a total of 4 games for Japan's national team between 1934 and 1936.
