Mount Blaurock is a tall mountain peak located in the Rocky Mountains of North America. It is part of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range in Colorado, United States. This mountain is known as a "thirteener" because its summit reaches 13,623 feet (about 4,152 meters) above sea level.
Mount Blaurock is found within the San Isabel National Forest. This forest is a large protected area in Colorado. The mountain is about 33.9 kilometers (21.1 miles) northwest of the town of Buena Vista in Chaffee County.
Who Was Carl Blaurock?
Mount Blaurock was named to honor Carl Blaurock. He was a very important person in the history of mountain climbing in Colorado. Carl Blaurock helped start the Colorado Mountain Club. This club helps people enjoy and protect Colorado's mountains.
Carl Blaurock was also one of the first two people to climb all of Colorado's "fourteeners." A "fourteener" is a mountain peak that is over 14,000 feet (about 4,267 meters) tall. Climbing all of them is a big achievement for mountain climbers!
