Geography of Mount Tabor
Mount Tabor covers a total area of about 43.8 square miles. Most of this area, about 43.7 square miles, is land. Only a very small part, about 0.1 square miles, is water.
A part of the village of Danby is located in the western section of Mount Tabor. This area is found along U.S. Route 7 and near Otter Creek.

Traffic Safety and Town Funds
In 2018, a study looked at how Mount Tabor manages traffic. A section of US Route 7 that goes through the edge of Danby village had its speed limit lowered to 45 miles per hour in 1999.
The town collected over $2 million from traffic fines since then. In 2017 alone, Mount Tabor received $131,074 from these fines. This amount was about $524 for every person living in the town. This income from traffic fines helped the town reduce its local taxes. In fact, the town's tax rate became one-third of what it was in 1999. Mount Tabor gets a higher percentage of its town money from traffic fines than any other town in Vermont.
