Mount Unwin is a tall mountain in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. It stands about 3,268 meters (10,722 feet) high! You can find it on the west side of Maligne Lake, which is a famous and beautiful lake in the park. Mount Unwin is part of the Canadian Rockies, a huge mountain range.

History of Mount Unwin
How Mount Unwin Got Its Name
Mount Unwin was named in 1908 by a brave explorer named Mary Schäffer Warren. She named it after her guide and friend, Sidney Unwin. Sidney was the first person known to climb this mountain. He did this while helping Mary search for the hidden Maligne Lake.
Mary Schäffer was very important in naming many mountains around Maligne Lake. She also named Mount Charlton, Maligne Mountain, and Mount Warren.
Official Recognition
The name "Mount Unwin" became official in 1947. This was decided by the Geographical Names Board of Canada. This board makes sure that places in Canada have proper names.

Mount Unwin is in a subarctic climate zone. This means it has very cold, snowy winters. Summers are usually mild, but still cool.
Temperatures and Snow
In winter, temperatures can drop below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). With the wind, it can feel even colder, sometimes below -30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees Fahrenheit)! A lot of snow falls here.
Water Flow
The snow and ice that melt from Mount Unwin flow into the Maligne River. This river is a branch of the larger Athabasca River.
