Mount Warburton Pike is a special mountain located on Saturna Island in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Canada. It stands as the highest peak in the Gulf Islands, not counting Saltspring Island. This important mountain is also part of the amazing Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, a protected area for nature.

Why is it Called Mount Warburton Pike?

This mountain gets its name from a person named Warburton Pike (1861–1915). He was an interesting explorer, a sportsman, and an author. In 1886, Warburton Pike bought land on Saturna Island, and his ranch included the mountain we know today.

Pike wrote a famous book called The Barren Ground of Northern Canada. This book shared his adventures and experiences in the northern parts of Canada. Because of his connection to the area, both the summit of this mountain and a rock in Active Pass were named after him. A special monument was also built for him at Porter Landing in the Dease Lake region. This monument was a gift from his friends, Osborne Beauclerk, 12th Duke of St Albans and Marshall Latham Bond.
