Nada is a small, unincorporated community in Colorado County, Texas, United States. It is also known as a census designated place (CDP). You can find Nada on State Highway 71, located about halfway between the towns of El Campo and Columbus.

Where is Nada, Texas?
Nada is located in the southern part of Colorado County. It sits right along State Highway 71. The community is about 3 miles (5 km) south of Garwood. It is also about 20 miles (32 km) south of Columbus. The famous Colorado River flows nearby.

The community of Nada has an interesting past. Its first name was Vox Populi. This is a Latin phrase that means "Voice of the People."
How Nada Got Its Name
The name "Nada" comes from the Czech word "naděje." This word means "hope." So, the community's current name is an Americanized version of "hope."
Early Settlers and Growth
The very first settlers arrived in Nada on February 15, 1881. This was J. William Schoellmann and his family. Many of the people who settled here after them were Czech and German families. They often came from the Frelsburg area.
The community grew steadily. The first church in Nada was built and dedicated on October 7, 1897. A schoolhouse was built in 1899. It started with eighteen students. By the mid-1980s, about 165 people lived in Nada. This population number stayed about the same until the year 2000.
