International Falls These two schools opened in 1914 and 1936. They were very important for education and community life in the area. They also show us what school buildings looked like in the early 1900s. The Backus school was the biggest building project in Koochiching County by the Public Works Administration.

Island View vicinity This area has seven old mine shafts and test pits. They are from a gold rush in 1894. This gold rush brought new industries and people to settle in the area.

International Falls vicinity The Grand Mound is a huge burial mound. It was built by the Laurel people around 200 BCE. It is the largest old structure still standing in the upper Midwest region.

International Falls This courthouse was built between 1909 and 1910. It has a classic Neoclassical and Renaissance Revival style. It is important for its design and the beautiful paintings inside. It has served as the county government's main building for a very long time.

Island View vicinity You can still see parts of this old mine, like shafts and machinery. It was Minnesota's only gold mine that made a profit. It operated from 1893 to 1898. This mine started the gold rush that brought many settlers to the Rainy Lake area. Today, there's a walking trail here for visitors.

Ranier vicinity Ernest Oberholtzer (1884–1977) lived on these islands. He was a very important person who worked to protect wild places like the Boundary Waters. His home complex includes 12 buildings built between 1919 and 1944.

Littlefork vicinity This large log cabin was built around 1901. It shows how European-American settlers tried to create farms and homes in Koochiching County later than in other areas. It also served as the Forsythe Post Office from 1904 to 1922.

Northome This hotel was built in 1921. It served lumber workers and early tourists. The county tore it down in 1996 because it had been empty for many years.

Also, the Bridge No. 5721 was first listed in Koochiching County. However, it was moved to Washington County in 2011.
