Nicholas Joseph Orville Liverpool (born September 9, 1934 – died June 1, 2015) was an important leader and judge from Dominica. He served as the sixth President of Dominica from October 2, 2003, to September 17, 2012.

Nicholas Liverpool's Early Life and Education
Nicholas Liverpool started his studies at the University of Hull in 1957. There, he earned a law degree in 1960. He then became a lawyer at Inner Temple in 1961. This meant he was officially allowed to practice law. Later, he earned a Ph.D. degree from the University of Sheffield in 1965.
Nicholas Liverpool's Career in Law
After finishing his studies, Nicholas Liverpool returned to the Caribbean. He spent 18 years teaching law at the University of the West Indies in Barbados. In 1992, he became the head of its law school.
He also worked as a judge in many Caribbean countries. He served as a regional judge and then an appeal court judge in places like Belize and Grenada. He was also a high court judge in Antigua and Montserrat. Mr. Liverpool helped with many legal reforms and commissions. In 2002, he led a group that reviewed the constitution for Grenada. The University of Hull gave him another special law degree in 2011.
Nicholas Liverpool's Role as Ambassador
In March 1998, Nicholas Liverpool became the Ambassador for Dominica to the United States. He held this important position until 2001. This role meant he represented Dominica in the U.S. and helped build good relationships between the two countries.
Nicholas Liverpool's Presidency
In 2003, Nicholas Liverpool was chosen to be the President of Dominica. This was a very important job. In the same year, he received the Dominica Award of Honour. This is a special award given to people who have done great things for Dominica.
From 2002 to 2003, he was also a member of the UNESCO governing board. This board helps with education, science, and culture around the world. In 2008, he agreed to serve a second term as President. Both the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader supported him.
Nicholas Liverpool passed away on June 1, 2015, in Miami, Florida. He was 80 years old. He had been receiving medical treatment there.
