Nicholas John Hancock (born on October 25, 1962) is an English actor and television presenter. He is well-known for hosting the sports quiz show They Think It's All Over for ten years. He also presented Room 101 on TV from 1994 to 1999. Before that, he hosted the radio version of Room 101 from 1992 to 1994.

Nick Hancock's Early Life and Education
Nick Hancock grew up with his father, Ken, and three older sisters. He went to Yarlet School in Staffordshire and then Shrewsbury School. He studied education at Homerton College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge, Nick was part of a comedy group called the Footlights. There, he worked with Hugh Dennis and Steve Punt. He became the president of Footlights in 1983.
After college, Nick became a PE teacher. He also performed stand-up comedy as a hobby. He teamed up with Neil Mullarkey to form a comedy duo. They often made fun of TV show opening credits with music. They even performed these spoofs on TV shows like After Ten with Tarbuck. Some of the shows they joked about included Doctor Who and Dad's Army.
Nick Hancock's Television Career
Nick Hancock started his TV career working on shows like Carrott Confidential (1989) with Jasper Carrott. He also appeared in The Mary Whitehouse Experience (1989-1992). In 1990, he hosted a comedy chat show about fun facts called La Triviatta. That same year, Nick was in two episodes of Mr. Bean. He played a thief in one episode and a ticket inspector in another.
Hosting Popular TV Shows
In 1992, Nick Hancock became the host of Room 101. On this show, guests would talk about things they disliked and wanted to banish to "Room 101." He hosted the show until 1999.
In 1995, he started hosting They Think It's All Over. This was a popular sports comedy quiz show. A funny moment on the show happened when a guest was making fun of rugby star Jonah Lomu. Nick knew Lomu was backstage as a surprise guest, which made the situation very amusing.
Other TV Appearances and Projects
In 1998, Nick Hancock starred in a comedy documentary called "The Outsiders." It was about the Iranian national football team. He also appeared in Great Railway Journeys of the World in 1999. For this show, he traveled by train in Cuba. In 1998, Nick also narrated a BBC documentary series called Pleasure Beach. This series followed the daily life of the Blackpool amusement park.
In 2006, Nick talked about his favorite and least favorite TV shows on TV Heaven, Telly Hell. In 2007, he filmed a series called Nick Hancock's Fishing School. In this show, he taught students how to fly fish.
In 2011, Nick appeared in a special celebrity episode of the game show The Chase. He also joined a special quiz show called "A Royal Pain in the News" for BBC America and NPR. Nick won that game.
In June 2015, Nick Hancock was a guest host for the breakfast show on Signal 1 radio station. In October 2021, he took part in a quiz on BBC Radio 5. Nick also has a podcast called "The Famous Sloping Pitch."
In December 2022, Nick's home was featured on Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House. He put 15 interesting items up for auction. Most of them sold, raising over £1,100. In April 2023, he appeared as a fictional version of himself in the TV series Meet the Richardsons.
Nick Hancock's Personal Life
Nick Hancock met his wife, Shari Eftekhari, in Staines, Surrey. They met at a football event. Nick proposed to Shari in a pub in a very creative way. He asked her if he had something stuck in his teeth. When she looked, he stuck out his tongue with an engagement ring on it! They got married in Staffordshire in 1997 and have two children.
Nick is a big fan of Stoke City football club. In 2001, he bought a special FA Cup winner's medal for £20,000. This medal belonged to the famous footballer Stanley Matthews from the 1953 FA Cup Final. Nick later sold the medal in 2014. In 2007, he appeared on Antiques Roadshow to talk about his collection of football items. He also loves cricket. Nick lives with his wife and children in Shrewsbury.

Nick Hancock also released a video series about funny football mistakes, called Football Nightmares. This was followed by Football Hell and Football Doctor. All three were later put together on one DVD.
