Niki Karimi (Persian: نیکی کریمی; born on November 10, 1971) is a famous Iranian actress and filmmaker. She is known as a very important person in Iranian cinema, especially among younger artists after the Iranian Revolution. She has won many awards, including a special Crystal Simorgh, three Hafez Awards, and several other film honors.
Born in Tehran, Niki Karimi started her career in the late 1980s. She became well-known for her role in the movie Sara (1992). For this role, she won the award for best actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Early Life and Dreams
Niki Karimi was born on November 10, 1971, in Tehran, Iran. Her parents are from Tafresh. From a young age, she loved theater and acted in plays even in elementary school. She has said that her early interest in movies and books inspired her to become an actress.
A Career in Film

Niki Karimi began her acting journey in the late 1980s. In 1990, she starred as a young bride in the popular film The Bride, directed by Behrooz Afkhami.
Her role in Sara (1992) brought her a lot of praise and awards, including the best actress award at the San Sebastian Film Festival. She has also served as a jury member for more than 20 famous film festivals around the world. These include the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Locarno International Film Festival, and the 60th Cannes Film Festival. From 1992 to 2007, she worked as an assistant to the well-known Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.
Niki Karimi didn't just act; she also became a director. She wrote and directed her first documentary film, To Have or Not to Have (2001). This film won her an award in Iran. It was produced by Abbas Kiarostami.
In 2005, her first feature film as a director, One Night, was nominated at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. She shared that acting alone no longer made her happy, and she wanted to direct more movies.
Her third film as a director, Final Whistle (2011), won three awards at the Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in Vesoul, France. She has also received awards for her acting in films like Wednesday, May 9 and Death of Fish.
As a Translator
Besides her work in film, Niki Karimi has also translated books. In 1999, she translated Marlon Brando's life story, Songs My Mother Taught Me, from English to Persian. She also translated two books by Hanif Kureishi, a writer from Pakistan and England.
