Nobsa is a town and municipality in Colombia. It is located in the Boyacá Department, which is a part of the Sugamuxi Province. The main area of Nobsa is situated high up in the Altiplano Cundiboyacense region. It is about 125 kilometres (78 mi) away from Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia.
The town sits at an elevation of about 2,510 metres (8,230 ft) above sea level. Other parts of the municipality are even higher, ranging from 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) to 3,300 metres (10,800 ft). The Chicamocha River flows through Nobsa. The municipality shares its borders with several other towns, including Santa Rosa de Viterbo, Floresta, Corrales, Tópaga, and Tibasosa.

What Does Nobsa Mean?
The name Nobsa comes from the ancient Chibcha language. In Chibcha, Nobsa means "Decent bath of today."
A Look at Nobsa's Past
Before the Spanish arrived, the area where Nobsa is now was home to the Muisca people. They lived in a group of communities called the Muisca Confederation. The Nobsa area was ruled by a leader known as the Tundama from the nearby town of Tundama.
The modern town of Nobsa was officially founded on January 9, 1593. It was established by two people named Jerónimo Holguín and Misael Millán.
