North Lake is a suburb located in Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. It is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) south of Perth's city center. The suburb is also 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the Indian Ocean. It gets its name from a nearby lake, also called North Lake. Both the suburb and the lake are found within the City of Cockburn.

Exploring North Lake's Location

This suburb is named after the lake that is located within its area. North Lake is the most northern lake in a group of lakes. These lakes are part of the Beeliar Regional Park. Other lakes in this chain include Bibra Lake and Yangebup Lake. People have known the lake by this name since 1877. The name was officially approved for the suburb in 1954.

North Lake is on the northern edge of the City of Cockburn. It has clear boundaries around it. Farrington Road is to the north. The Kwinana Freeway is to the east. The Roe Highway is planned for the south. North Lake Road forms the western boundary.
