Northford is a special kind of community in Connecticut, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts as a separate place for population numbers, even though it's part of a larger town. Northford includes a main village and the homes and farms around it.
Northford is located in the northern part of the town of North Branford. It's in New Haven County. It shares borders with other towns like North Haven to the west, Guilford to the east, and Wallingford to the north. A small part of Northford also borders Durham in Middlesex County. In 2002, a central part of Northford, about 230 acres, was named the Northford Center Historic District. This means it's a special area with old buildings and history.
Northford was first officially listed as a CDP before the 2020 census. This helped track its population of 6,082 people in 2020.

Places of Worship in Northford
Northford is home to several historic churches. These buildings are important parts of the community's history and culture.
Congregational Church
The first Congregational church in Northford was started in 1750. The church building you see today was built much later, in 1846. It has been a central part of the community for a long time.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church began in 1763. The church building that stands now was dedicated on November 10, 1940. It was rebuilt to look like the older church, which was built in 1845 but was sadly destroyed by fire in 1938.
St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church
St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church was founded in the 1950s. It started as a "mission" church, which means it was a smaller church connected to a larger one, St. Augustine's in North Branford. In 2016, St. Monica's and St. Augustine's joined together. They formed a new church called the parish of St. Ambrose. This was the first time such a merger happened in the Archdiocese of Hartford.
