Oak Grove covers a total area of about 35.16 square miles (91.06 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.

History of Oak Grove
Oak Grove was first set up as an organized township in 1857. It got its name because there were many large groups of oak trees in the area.
The village of Oak Grove was started even earlier, in 1854. It had its own post office from 1857 until 1901. Later, in 1993, the township officially became the city of Oak Grove.
