Where is Oak Valley?
Oak Valley is located in the City of Townsville. It's partly bordered by the Flinders Highway and the Great Northern railway line to the north-east.
Stanley Neighbourhood
Within Oak Valley, there's a smaller area called Stanley. This neighbourhood is named after the Stanley railway station, which was named after a railway engineer named Henry Charles Stanley.

The Old Airfield
During World War II, from 1942 to 1945, a military airfield called Antill Plains Aerodrome operated here. Airfields are places where airplanes take off and land. After the war, this airfield became a private airport known as Montpelier Airpark. You can find it at 1259 Old Flinders Highway.

Oak Valley has a few places that are considered important to history. These are called heritage-listed sites. One example is the Tobacco Kiln at 12 Chisholm Trail. A kiln is a type of oven used for drying things, and this one was used for tobacco.
