Annandale is a suburb located in the south-west of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It is part of the City of Townsville. In 2021 census, Annandale was home to 8,376 people.

Exploring Annandale's Location
Annandale is bordered by the Ross River to the north. Stuart Drive forms its eastern edge. University Road marks its southern and western boundaries.
In the north-east, close to the river, you'll find the Annandale Wetlands. These are natural areas that stay wet, providing a home for many plants and animals. Major roads like the Bruce Highway and University Road help connect Annandale to other parts of Townsville.
Annandale's Past
Annandale was a very large planned community in Townsville. Building started in the mid-1970s and finished in 2005. It is one of Townsville's newer suburbs. Some homes closer to the river are known for being quite grand.
Before 2006, Annandale was part of the Burdekin voting area. It then became part of the Electoral district of Mundingburra area.
In 2006, Annandale had a lot of dogs! About seven out of every ten homes owned at least one dog. This was the highest number of dogs per home in Townsville at the time.
Several schools opened in Annandale over the years:
- Annandale Christian School opened on 22 January 1982.
- William Ross State High School opened on 29 January 1991.
- Southern Cross Catholic School opened in 1998.
- Annandale State School opened on 22 January 1998.
- The Annandale campus of Townsville Grammar School opened on 1 January 2002.
Like many areas in Townsville, Annandale was affected by Cyclone Yasi. This big storm hit on 3 February 2011.

Southern Cross Catholic College
Southern Cross Catholic College is a Catholic school. It teaches both primary and secondary students, from Prep to Year 10. It is located on Gartrell Drive. In 2018, the school had 1,071 students.
Annandale Christian College

Annandale's Special Bridge
The Major Richard I. Bong Bridge is on Macarthur Avenue. This bridge is named after Richard Bong, an American pilot. He was a very brave fighter pilot during World War II. He served in Townsville and was known as one of America's top flying aces. This means he shot down many enemy planes.
