Oberdorf is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Waldenburg area of Basel-Landschaft canton in Switzerland. It's a lovely place with a rich history and beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Oberdorf
Oberdorf was first mentioned way back in the year 835! Back then, it was known by a different name: Honoltesuuilare. Later, around 1345-1389, it was called Onoltzwil in dem obern [...] dorff. Finally, in 1491, it got its current name, Oberdorf.
For a long time, Oberdorf was part of a larger village called Onoldswil. But in the 1200s, that village split up, and Oberdorf became its own separate community.
Geography and Nature
Oberdorf covers an area of about 6.19 square kilometers (about 2.4 square miles). A large part of this land is covered by forests, making up about 43.8% of the area. Another big part, 43.5%, is used for farming, like growing crops or for pastures where animals graze.
About 12.8% of Oberdorf's land is developed with buildings and roads. There are also small rivers or lakes, making up about 0.5% of the area. The town is nestled in the Waldenburger Valley, which is also known as the Vorderen Frenken Valley. It sits along an old road that crosses the Oberen Hauenstein Pass.
Besides the main village of Oberdorf, there are also 13 smaller farming settlements scattered around. These smaller communities have been growing since the 1800s.
