Omoni Oboli (born on April 22, 1978) is a talented Nigerian actress, scriptwriter, film director, and producer. She is also a digital filmmaker. Omoni studied at the New York Film Academy. She has written many movie scripts, including The Figurine (2009) and Anchor Baby (2010). She also wrote Being Mrs Elliott, The First Lady, and Wives on Strike (2016). In 2018, she starred in and directed the funny movie Moms at War.

Early Life and Education
Omoni Oboli was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Her family comes from Mosogar, a small village in Delta State, Nigeria. Omoni went to primary and secondary school in Benin City.
After finishing secondary school, Omoni Oboli went to the University of Benin. She earned a bachelor's degree in French. Later, she traveled to the New York Film Academy. There, she learned about digital editing in a special four-week course.
Omoni Oboli's Film Career
Omoni started her acting career in 1996. Her first movie role was in Bitter Encounter, where she played a secretary. She then appeared in Shame. After that, she played the main female character in three big movies: Not My Will, Destined To Die, and Another Campus Tale.
After a short time in movies in 1996, Omoni left the industry to finish her university studies. She got married soon after school. She did not return to acting for ten years. When she came back in 2009, she felt there was no longer a place for her. This made her decide to start producing her own movies.
Writing and Producing Films
Omoni has written several movie scripts. One of her well-known films is Wives On Strike. She also co-produced a movie called The Rivals. This film won an award for Best International Drama at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival. It was the first Nigerian film to be shown at this festival since it started in 2003.
Omoni Oboli has played lead roles in many popular films. These include The Figurine (2009), Anchor Baby (2010), Being Mrs Elliot, and Fifty (2015). She is also the first actress from Nollywood (the Nigerian film industry) to win Best Actress awards at two different international festivals in the same year (2010). She won these awards at the Harlem International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards for her role in Anchor Baby.
In 2015, Omoni was named "Personality of the Year" by Sun Nollywood. She has directed several movies herself, such as Being Mrs Elliot, The First Lady, Wives on Strike, and Okafor's Law. On August 14, 2017, Omoni Oboli announced she became a Brand ambassador for LandWey Investment Limited.
Legal Challenge
Omoni Oboli starred in the movie Okafor's Law. The movie was supposed to premiere on March 24, 2017. However, it could not be shown because of a court order. Omoni was accused of using ideas from Jude Idada for the movie's script without permission. This is called copyright infringement. The movie was later released on March 31, 2017.
Charity Work
Omoni Oboli started a charity organization called "The Omoni Oboli Foundation." She uses her fame to help women and children in Nigeria who are less fortunate. Her foundation has done many projects, including feeding street children in Lagos.
