Orange City is a city in Sioux County, Iowa, United States. It is also the county seat, which means it is the main city where the county government is located. In 2020, about 6,267 people lived there. This was more than the 5,582 people who lived there in 2000.
The city got its name from William of Orange, a famous Dutch leader. Orange City still celebrates its Dutch heritage today. You can see this in the Dutch style of its buildings and in its yearly Tulip Festival.

History and Culture in Orange City
Orange City was first called Holland. Later, its name was changed to honor the Dutch royal family, the Prince of Orange. The city was started in 1870 by settlers who came from Pella, Iowa. They were looking for land that was cheaper and better for farming.
As the main city of Sioux County, Orange City is home to the Sioux County Courthouse. This important building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is a special place that is protected because of its history.
