Oronoco (pronounced orr-ə-NOH-koh) is a small city in Olmsted County, Minnesota, United States. It is located along the Middle Fork of the Zumbro River. In 2020, the city had a population of 1,802 people.

History of Oronoco
Oronoco was named by an early settler, Dr. Hector Galloway. He named it after the Orinoco, a large river in South America. A small village was started in 1854. It was officially mapped out in 1855.
The village became an official city on March 6, 1968. The area around the city, called Oronoco Township, was set up in 1858. Oronoco is known as a "bedroom community" for Rochester. This means many people who live in Oronoco travel to Rochester for work.
Geography and Location
Oronoco is located in southeastern Minnesota. The city covers an area of about 2.81 square miles (7.28 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 2.49 square miles (6.45 square kilometers). The rest, about 0.32 square miles (0.83 square kilometers), is water. This water includes parts of the Zumbro River.

According to the 2010 census, there were 1,300 people living in Oronoco. These people lived in 451 homes, and 357 of these were families.
Most people in Oronoco were White (95.2%). There were also smaller groups of Asian (3.0%), African American (0.2%), Native American (0.2%), and Pacific Islander (0.2%) residents. About 0.5% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
