History of Ossingen
Ossingen was first mentioned in official records in the year 1230. Back then, it was known as de Ozzingin.
Geography of Ossingen
Ossingen covers an area of about 13.1 square kilometers (which is about 5.1 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 58%, is used for farming. About 30% of the area is covered by forests. Buildings and roads make up about 7.9% of the land. The rest, about 4.2%, includes things like rivers or mountains that aren't used for building or farming.
The municipality of Ossingen includes the main village of Ossingen. It also has smaller communities called hamlets, such as Weiler Burghof, Gisenhard, Hausen, and Langenmoos. You can also find farming areas like Werdhof, Ziegelhütte, and Dachsenhausen here. A cool old building called Schloss Wyden (Widen Castle) is also part of Ossingen. Plus, there's a lake called Husemersee within the municipality.
