Palisade is a small town in Mesa County, Colorado, United States. It is part of the larger Grand Junction area. The town got its name from the tall cliffs nearby.
Palisade is famous for its delicious peaches and many wine vineyards. The weather here is perfect for growing things. It has a long growing season of 182 days and lots of sunshine. This is why Palisade is known as "The Peach Capital of Colorado." In 2020, about 2,565 people lived in Palisade.

Exploring Palisade's Location
Palisade is located on the north side of the Colorado River. It is about 11 miles (18 km) east of Grand Junction, which is the main city in the county.
You can reach Palisade easily by road. U.S. Route 6 goes right through the town as 8th Street. Also, Interstate 70 runs along the northern edge of the town, close to the cliffs. You can get off at Exit 42 to enter Palisade.
The town covers a total area of about 1.2 square miles (3.1 square kilometers). Only a tiny part of this area is water.
Palisade's Weather and Climate
Palisade has a fairly mild climate compared to other parts of Colorado. The town usually gets about 14 inches (36 cm) of snow each year. It also receives about 10 inches (25 cm) of rain on average.
The area is considered a USDA hardiness zone 7. This means it has a good climate for many different plants to grow.
