Pascal Wehrlein (born 18 October 1994) is a German and Mauritian racing driver. He currently races in Formula E for the Porsche team. Pascal is a very successful driver. He won the 2023–24 Formula E World Championship with Porsche. He also competed in Formula One from 2016 to 2017.
Pascal was born in Sigmaringen, Germany. His father is German and his mother is Mauritian. He started karting when he was eight years old. He won many local championships. In 2010, he moved up to junior racing series. He won his first championship in 2011 in the ADAC Formel Masters. Then he raced in the Formula 3 Euro Series and finished second in 2012.

Early Racing Days and First Wins
Pascal Wehrlein was born in Sigmaringen, Germany. His father, Richard Wehrlein, was a boxer. Pascal started karting in 2003. He raced only in Germany at first. By 2009, he was in the KF2 karting category.
Starting in ADAC Formel Masters
In 2010, Pascal began racing in ADAC Formel Masters. He joined the Mücke Motorsport team. He finished sixth in the championship. He won one race at Sachsenring and got three other podium finishes.
He stayed with the team for 2011. That year, he won seven races. He raced at tracks like Oschersleben and Nürburgring. He won the championship title that season.
Moving to Formula 3 Euro Series
In 2012, Wehrlein moved up to the Formula 3 Euro Series. He continued to race with Mücke Motorsport. He finished second in the championship. The winner was Daniel Juncadella.
DTM: Becoming a Young Champion
Pascal Wehrlein started racing in Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) in 2013. He joined the Mercedes-Benz team, Mücke Motorsport. He was only 18 years old. This made him the youngest driver ever in DTM history.
First Season with Mücke
In his first DTM race at Hockenheimring, he started eighth. He even led the race for 16 laps. He finished 11th, just outside the points. He scored his first points by finishing 10th twice. This was at Brands Hatch and Spielberg. He finished his first season 22nd in the championship.
Success with HWA Team
In 2014, he moved to the HWA Team. He became the youngest driver in DTM history to get a pole position. He also became the youngest to win a race. This win was at Lausitz. He finished eighth in the championship with 46 points.
In 2015, DTM changed to have two races each weekend. This meant 18 races in the season. Pascal won the championship easily. He scored points in almost every race. He had five podium finishes and two wins. He became the youngest DTM champion ever. He was only 20 years old.
Pascal returned to DTM in 2018 with Mercedes-AMG. He got one podium finish. He ended the season in eighth place. After six seasons, Pascal and Mercedes decided to go their separate ways.
Formula One: A Dream Come True
In September 2014, Pascal became a reserve driver for the Mercedes F1 Team. He was also their first junior driver. He tested cars for both Force India and Mercedes.
Racing for Manor in 2016
On February 10, 2016, Pascal made his F1 debut with Manor Racing. Manor got access to Mercedes's wind tunnel by hiring him. He chose car number 94, because he was born in 1994. He scored his and Manor's only point of the season. This happened at the Austrian Grand Prix. He finished in tenth place.
Time with Sauber in 2017
In 2017, Wehrlein joined Sauber. He missed the first test because of an injury. He got hurt at the 2017 Race of Champions. Antonio Giovinazzi replaced him for some races.
Pascal returned and finished eighth at the Spanish Grand Prix. He scored more points at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He was the only Sauber driver to score points that season. However, he was replaced by Charles Leclerc for 2018. This ended his Formula One career.
Ferrari Development Driver
From 2019 to 2020, Pascal worked for Ferrari. He was a simulator driver. This means he helped test cars using a computer simulation. He left this role to focus on his racing with Porsche.
Formula E: Electric Racing Success
Pascal Wehrlein moved to Formula E for the 2018–19 season. Formula E is a racing series for electric cars. He joined the Mahindra Racing team.
Mahindra Racing (2019–2020)
He made his Formula E debut at the Marrakesh ePrix. In his third race, he got his first pole position. This was at the Mexico City ePrix. He finished second in that race. But he got a penalty and dropped to sixth place. He left Mahindra in June 2020.
Porsche Formula E Team (2021–Present)

Pascal joined the Porsche Formula E team for the 2020-21 season. He took pole position at the Puebla ePrix. He finished first, but was disqualified. His team had not declared his tire set correctly.
In 2021-22, he got pole position at the Mexico City ePrix. He then won the race! This was his and Porsche's first Formula E victory. It was also Porsche's first 1-2 finish, with his teammate André Lotterer in second.
For the 2023 season, Pascal stayed with Porsche. He started strong. He finished second in Mexico City. Then he won both races in Diriyah. He crashed out of the Cape Town ePrix. But he finished in the points in all other races. He won another race in Jakarta. He finished fourth in the championship.
Becoming World Champion in 2024
Pascal, Porsche, and his teammate António Félix da Costa returned for the 2024 season. Pascal started strong again. He got pole position and won the first race in Mexico City. He scored points in the next four races. He also got pole position at São Paulo.
At the Misano ePrix, he won a race after another driver had an energy problem. He took his third pole of the season at Monaco. At the Shanghai ePrix, he finished second in the first race. He lost the lead on the last lap to Mitch Evans.
Going into the final race in London, Pascal was 12 points behind the leader. In the first London race, he fought hard and won. This put him in the lead for the championship. The next day, he drove carefully. He finished second in the race. This meant he won the championship by six points over Mitch Evans! He became the Formula E World Champion.
Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa will continue to race for Porsche in the 2024–25 season.
