Paul Nicolás Aguilar Rojas, born on March 6, 1986, is a former professional footballer from Mexico. He played as a right-back, which is a defensive position on the side of the field.
Aguilar proudly played for the Mexican national team. He participated in two FIFA World Cup tournaments, in 2010 and 2014. He also played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011 and 2015, and the Copa América Centenario.

Paul Aguilar's Club Career
Starting with Pachuca
Paul Aguilar began his football journey with Pachuca in 2002. He first played for Pachuca's junior team, Pachuca Juniors, which was in the second division. To gain more experience, he was loaned to Indios de Ciudad Juárez for two seasons.
After returning to Pachuca in 2005, Aguilar made his first team debut on August 6, 2006. This was during the 2006 Apertura tournament. In his very first game against Cruz Azul, he played the whole match and even scored a goal!
Pachuca won the 2007 Clausura championship by defeating América in the final. Paul Aguilar became a key player for the team. He rarely missed a game once he became a regular starter at right-back. He also played in the FIFA Club World Cup with Pachuca in 2008 and 2010. His great performance helped him earn a spot on the national team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After five years with Pachuca, Aguilar moved to América in 2011.
Playing for Club América
On May 23, 2011, Paul Aguilar officially joined Club América. He made his debut for América on July 31 in a league match against Toluca. Aguilar quickly became a favorite among the club's fans. He scored his first goal for América against their big rivals, Guadalajara, in a famous match called the Súper Clásico.
On May 26, 2013, Aguilar won his first championship with América. They defeated Cruz Azul in the Clausura final. In March 2014, he signed a new contract to stay with América until 2016. He had often said he wanted to finish his career at the club. Aguilar played his 100th league game for América on May 30, 2014, in a 4–0 win over Guadalajara. He left Club América on December 2, 2020.
Time with FC Juárez
On July 19, 2021, Aguilar signed with FC Juárez. He played for them until 2022.
Playing for Mexico
In October 2007, Paul Aguilar was first called up to the senior national team. This was for a friendly match against Nigeria, but he did not play in that game. In 2009, he was called up again and made his debut for the national team on September 30. This was in a friendly match against Colombia. Mexico lost 1–2, but Aguilar played the entire game and scored Mexico's only goal.
In early 2010, Aguilar was chosen for several friendly matches to prepare for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In Mexico's first game of 2010, a 5–0 win over Bolivia, Paul scored his second goal for Mexico. He was then selected for the final 23-player squad for the World Cup. He started in the first game of the tournament against host country South Africa.
Aguilar was part of the team that won the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He also played in the 2011 Copa America in Argentina. He played in all three group matches as a right-back.
He was called up again in late 2013 for the World Cup playoff matches against New Zealand. Aguilar scored Mexico's first goal in a 5–1 win over New Zealand. Mexico won the playoff and qualified for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Aguilar was included in the final squad and started in all four of Mexico's matches during the 2014 World Cup.
During the 2015 CONCACAF Cup, Aguilar scored a winning goal in overtime for Mexico, helping them win 3–2. This tournament was important as it decided who would qualify for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
