Pearlie is a fun animated TV show from Australia and Canada. It's based on the popular children's books called Pearlie the Park Fairy by Wendy Harmer. This show was made by Sticky Pictures from Australia and Nelvana from Canada. You could watch Pearlie on Network Ten in Australia, YTV in Canada, Pop Girl in the UK, and Qubo in the USA. In 2010, you could even buy five DVDs of the show!

About Pearlie and Jubilee Park

Pearlie is a special park fairy chosen by Fairy Headquarters. Her job is to keep Jubilee Park perfectly tidy and sparkling. She loves planning big parties and events for everyone in the park. Pearlie always wants everything to be just right!

She gets help from Jasper, an elf who isn't a big fan of hard work. There's also Opal, a fairy from the Australian Outback. Opal was sent to Jubilee Park to learn how to manage a park from Pearlie.

Pearlie's cousin, Saphira, is quite jealous of Pearlie. Saphira really wants Pearlie to lose her job. With her helper, Ludwig the bat, Saphira tries to mess up Pearlie's plans. But Pearlie is usually too kind to notice her cousin's tricks. Opal and Jasper, however, are always aware of Saphira's sneaky schemes.

Meet the Characters

Fairies

Pearlie, the Park Fairy

Pearlie is the main character of the show. She is a park fairy chosen by Fairy Headquarters to keep Jubilee Park in perfect order. She has green eyes, freckles, and light blonde hair with turquoise streaks.

Pearlie is very kind and has a bubbly personality. Everyone in Jubilee Park likes her. She knows all the Fairy Rules and follows them carefully. She also warns others about "big persons" (humans), because fairies and elves should not be seen by people.

Pearlie loves to plan fun, sometimes over-the-top, parties and events. She always wants things to be perfect. Sometimes she forgets to listen to what others need, but she always apologizes and fixes things happily. Some of her favorite sayings are "stars and moonbeams" and "buds and blossoms!"

She enjoys singing and dancing. Pearlie always wears a pearly tiara, which is blue for everyday and pink for fancy events. She doesn't realize her cousin Saphira is trying to cause trouble. Pearlie also has a crush on an autumn fairy named Leaf, and he likes her too! Her magic wand has a snowflake made of pearls on its tip.

Opal, the Outback Fairy

Opal is an Australian Outback fairy. She was sent to North America, possibly Canada, to learn how to make advanced potions. Instead of a wand, Opal uses a magic lasso. She lives in a hollow log in the desert garden area of the park.

Opal is a bit of a tomboy. She loves to dance and wear boots. She is also a champion at bug rodeo! Opal knows that Saphira is mean and always up to no good. She often defends her friends from Saphira's tricks.

Opal can be impatient, but she has a big heart. She is always ready to help her friends and animals. Sometimes she acts before thinking, but she always admits her mistakes. Her catchphrases include "Look out, bugs! Here comes Lasso Girl!" She loves bugs and reptiles, which are common in Australia. Opal has a pet frilled lizard named Ned.

Saphira, the Queen of Darkness

Saphira is Pearlie's cousin and the main villain of the show. She is vain, lazy, and often evil. She calls herself the Queen of Darkness because she only wears sapphire blue. Saphira thinks she can control everyone.

She lives in the Jubilee Park greenhouse, which she runs as a successful spa. Saphira is very jealous of Pearlie's cheerful attitude and how much everyone likes her. Saphira spends her days trying to ruin Pearlie's plans. But her tricks often backfire on her! Sometimes, very rarely, she does help Pearlie and her friends.

Saphira has two helpers: Ludwig, a common bat, and Gobsmack, the park's goblin representative from Fairy HQ. She often scolds Ludwig and is rude to Gobsmack, who doesn't seem to mind because he has a crush on her. Saphira's catchphrases include "stop fooling around with me!" She is named after the sapphire gemstone.

Fern, the Wood Nymph

Fern is a wood nymph with red-orange hair. Jasper has a crush on her. She loves nature, especially birds. Fern is kind, patient, and calm, like a 1960s hippie. She talks to animals by chanting "Love, Peace, Trees." She appears in three episodes. Her magic wand is a twig.

Great Aunt Garnet

Garnet is Pearlie's kind but forgetful great aunt. She runs a store full of potions and lotions. Her potions always work, but sometimes not in the way they are supposed to! Her store is inside a clock tower near the park. Garnet is wise and teaches Pearlie and Opal about potions. She used to be a Fairy Godmother before she retired.

Agate is Pearlie's aunt and Saphira's mother. She is best friends with her younger sister, Coral. Agate loves Saphira very much but won't let her be rude or disrespectful. She also appears in "Mother Magic."

Twinkle-Twinkle, the Superstar

Twinkle-Twinkle is a fairy who thinks she's the best singing superstar in Jubilee Park. She sings her songs, but she actually uses a tape player for her voice. How she lost her voice is a mystery. Astrid, Head of Dreams

The Turquoise Fairy

She is a famous fairy author known for her few but firm words. The Turquoise Fairy has matching turquoise eyes, hair, and dress. She has a powerful wand. She once cast a spell on Saphira's nose, making it like Pinocchio's, for sabotaging Pearlie and Opal.

Jasper, the Garden Elf

Jasper is a garden elf with dreadlocks. He calls himself "a barefoot toe wiggling elf" and can talk to plants. He is a bit lazy but is Pearlie's best friend. Even though he's an elf, he has wings, so people often mistake him for a fairy, which annoys him. He has a crush on Fern and loves nature. His job is to keep the park's plants and animals happy. Jasper lives in an old mailbox at the park gates. He often tries to get Pearlie to relax and enjoy life. His catchphrases are "jeepers creepers!" and "chill, dude, chill." Jasper is in almost every episode with Pearlie.

Sterling, the Sneaky Elf

Sterling is an elf with black hair. At first, he seems nice, but he turns out to be a sneaky criminal. He tricks Saphira and Ludwig to get them out of her place. He steals a magic spell-binding orb. He only appears twice and is afraid of spiders.

Bats

Lüdwig, Saphira's Sidekick

Lüdwig is Saphira's servant bat and sidekick. He can't live without Saphira, and she can't live without him. He puts up with her tough attitude because he has a crush on her. Lüdwig has a twin brother named Johann who lives in the wild. But Lüdwig prefers being a house-bat, waiting on Saphira. He sleeps in a broom closet. Ludwig is also surprisingly smart.

Johann, Lüdwig's Brother

Johann is Lüdwig's twin brother. He wants Lüdwig to be free and live in the wild like him.

Other Park Residents

Gobsmack, the Fairy Inspector

Gobsmack is the Regional Fairy Inspector and the representative from Fairy Headquarters in Jubilee Park. He is a panicky goblin who strictly follows the rules. He is quick to report Pearlie if she makes a mess. Gobsmack doesn't fly like fairies; instead, he can teleport. He often "pops" in at the worst times for Pearlie. Saphira can easily trick Gobsmack, especially by offering him a free facial or knee buff at her spa. He likes country music. His catchphrase is "Cheese and peanuts!" Gobsmack has a crush on Saphira and helps her try to make Pearlie look bad.

Gadzook, Head Goblin
