Peter Michael St Clair Harvey (born September 16, 1944 – died March 2, 2013) was a well-known Australian journalist and broadcaster. A journalist gathers and shares news. A broadcaster presents news on TV or radio. Peter Harvey worked for the Nine Network TV channel for 38 years.

Peter Harvey's Career
Peter Harvey started his career as a journalist at a newspaper called The Daily Telegraph. He was very good at his job. In 1964, he won a special award called a Walkley Award for his work.
Working in Radio and Overseas
Soon, Peter Harvey moved to radio journalism. He worked at radio stations like 2UE and 2GB in Australia. Later, he moved to London, England. There, he worked for BBC Radio. He also wrote for a famous newspaper called The Guardian. He won many awards for his writing there.
During the 1960s and early 1970s, he worked for Newsweek magazine in the United States. He was a reporter in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. This was a very important and dangerous job. He reported on what was happening there.
Returning to Australian Television
In 1973, Peter Harvey came back to Australia. He started working for the Nine Network on television. In his early years at Nine, he was a news director. He also worked as a reporter in Canberra for Nine News. He also reported for the popular TV show 60 Minutes.
Peter Harvey received more awards for his amazing career. In 2001, he was given a Centenary Medal. This medal honors people who have contributed to Australian society. In April 2014, after he passed away, he was added to the Logie Hall of Fame. This is a very high honor in Australian television.

His Illness and Passing
In August 2012, Peter Harvey was on holiday in Venice, Italy with his wife. While there, he found out he had pancreatic cancer. This news was shared with the public on October 11, 2012.
Peter Harvey passed away on March 2, 2013. He was 68 years old. He died at the North Shore Private Hospital in St Leonards, Sydney.
