Peyragudes is a super cool ski resort in the French Pyrenees mountains. It's located in two different areas of France: Hautes-Pyrénées and Haute-Garonne, both in the Occitanie region.
This resort was created in 1988. It happened when two smaller ski areas, Peyresourde and Agudes, decided to join together.

Skiing Adventures at Peyragudes
Peyragudes is special because it's built on two sides of the same mountain. You can easily travel between these sides using various ski lifts.
The resort has 17 ski lifts to take you up the mountain. There are 51 ski slopes in total, perfect for all skill levels:
- 6 green slopes for beginners
- 23 blue slopes for easy rides
- 18 red slopes for intermediate skiers
- 4 black slopes for advanced challenges
A big part of the resort has 230 snow cannons. These machines help make sure there's enough snow for skiing, even if it doesn't snow naturally.
There's also a new gondola lift called Skyvall. It cost about 30 million euros to build! This gondola connects the town of Loudenvielle in the Vallee du Louron to the mountain village at Peyragudes. It makes it much easier to get to the slopes.
Cycling Challenges
Peyragudes is not just for skiing; it's also famous for cycling! Cyclists can climb up to the ski resort from the D618 road. This road is between Arreau and the Col de Peyresourde. The top of the climb is at 1,605 meters (about 5,266 feet) high.
The climb was used in a cycling race called the Route du Sud in 2010. David Moncoutié was the first cyclist to reach the top. He even went on to win the whole race!
Peyragudes in the Tour de France
Peyragudes has been a finish line for stages of the famous Tour de France cycling race several times. This is a very exciting event for cyclists and fans!
In 2012, Peyragudes was the finish of Stage 17 of the Tour de France. The highest point of the climb for the "King of the Mountains" award was 1,000 meters before the end. It was at a height of 1,603 meters (about 5,259 feet). Alejandro Valverde was the first to cross the finish line that day. Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins finished just 19 seconds behind him.
Romain Bardet won the stage in the 2017 Tour. After that stage, Fabio Aru took the yellow jersey from Chris Froome. The yellow jersey is worn by the overall leader of the race.
In the 2022 Tour, Brandon McNulty pushed the pace so hard that only his teammate Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard could keep up. Tadej Pogačar won that stage. Jonas Vingegaard kept the yellow jersey after finishing second.
