Pierre Woods, born on January 6, 1982, is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Pierre played college football for the Michigan Wolverines. He joined the New England Patriots in 2006.

Early Life and High School Football
Pierre Woods grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He went to Glenville High School. There, he played football for two years. His coach was Ted Ginn Sr.. Some of his teammates became famous players too. These included Troy Smith and Ted Ginn Jr..
High School Achievements
Pierre played in the very first U.S. Army All-American Bowl game. This special game was on December 30, 2000. He played alongside another future Michigan Wolverine, Marlin Jackson. During his high school career, Pierre made 173 tackles. He also had 42 sacks. He caused seven fumbles and intercepted one pass.
Pierre also played as a tight end. He caught 34 passes for 581 yards. He scored 13 touchdowns in this position. In his senior year, he had 92 tackles and 26 sacks. He was named Second-team USA Today High School All-America. Besides football, Pierre was also a good basketball player. He played on the varsity team for four years.
College Football Career
Pierre Woods went to the University of Michigan. He played for the Michigan Wolverines football team. In his first year, he did not play in any games. But in his second year, he played in all 13 games.
Key College Seasons
In 2003, as a sophomore, Pierre had 68 tackles. He led his team with 14 tackles for loss. He also had seven sacks. He was named second-team All-Big Ten. He started all 13 games as an outside linebacker. In 2004, he played in 12 games. He recorded 22 tackles and recovered one fumble. As a senior in 2005, he played in all 12 games. He started five games at linebacker. He made 24 tackles and forced two fumbles.
Professional Football Career
After college, Pierre Woods was not chosen in the NFL draft. But he still got a chance to play.
Time with the New England Patriots
The New England Patriots signed Pierre in 2006. In his first year, he played in eight games. He made 11 special teams tackles. In 2007, he played in all 16 regular-season games. He led the team with 21 special teams tackles.
In 2008, Pierre continued to be a strong special teams player. He started his first NFL game on November 13, 2008. This was against the New York Jets. He made nine tackles in that game. However, he got an arm injury later that year. This injury ended his season early.
Pierre came back in 2009. He played in all 16 games for the Patriots. He started five of those games. He finished the season with 36 tackles. Eighteen of these were on special teams. The Patriots released him in September 2010. But they signed him again in November 2010. He recorded his second career sack in a game against the Detroit Lions. The Patriots released him again in December 2010.
Playing for Other Teams
After leaving the Patriots, Pierre joined the Buffalo Bills. He was claimed by the Bills in December 2010. He was released by the Bills in February 2011.
Later, in November 2012, Pierre joined the Cleveland Gladiators. This team plays in the Arena Football League. He played for them for a short time in 2013.
