Pine Mountain is a cool mountain in western Massachusetts. It stands about 2,221 feet (677 m) tall. This mountain is part of the Taconic Mountains range. It's a great place for outdoor adventures.

About Pine Mountain

Pine Mountain is found inside Pittsfield State Forest. This forest is a fun place to explore nature. The mountain has a special path called the Pine Mountain Trail.

Hiking and Trails

The Pine Mountain Trail is perfect for hikers. It connects to two other long trails. One is the Taconic Crest Trail, which is about 35 mi (56 km) long. The other is the Taconic Skyline Trail, about 12.1 mi (19.5 km) long. These trails offer many chances to hike and see amazing views.

Where is Pine Mountain?

The top of Pine Mountain is in Hancock, Massachusetts. The western side of the mountain is also in Hancock. The eastern side of Pine Mountain is in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. So, the mountain is split between two towns.

Other mountains are close by. Tower Mountain is to the west. Smith Mountain is to the south. Berry Mountain is to the north. There is also a unique wetland called Tilden Swamp. It is just below the top of Pine Mountain.

Water Flow

Water from Pine Mountain flows into several streams. These include Hawthorne Brook and Parker Brook. The water then goes into Onota Lake. From there, it travels to the Housatonic River. Finally, it reaches the big Long Island Sound.
