Pinky Malinky is an American animated TV show. It was made by Chris Garbutt and Rikke Asbjoern for Nickelodeon and Netflix. The show is based on a short cartoon by Chris Garbutt from 2009.

This series was the first time Nickelodeon and Netflix worked together. It was also the first Nickelodeon cartoon made only for Netflix. The show follows the fun adventures of Pinky Malinky, a 12-year-old middle school student. Pinky is a talking hot dog! He tries to become popular with his two human friends, Babs Byuteman and JJ Jameson.

The show first came out on January 1, 2019. It was so popular that a second season was planned even before the first one aired. Season 2 was released on April 22, 2019. The third and final season came out on July 17, 2019. The show ended after Season 3. Pinky Malinky was even nominated for an award in 2020 for "Best Animation Editing."

Making the Show

In 2015, Nickelodeon decided to make 20 episodes of Pinky Malinky. The show was first supposed to start on Nickelodeon in 2016. But it faced many delays.

On June 21, 2018, it was announced that Pinky Malinky would be shown only on Netflix. They also said that a second season was already approved! Netflix's Twitter account even announced an August 17 release date. However, the show did not come out then. On September 16, 2018, Chris Garbutt posted on Instagram that there was a small delay. He said it was up to Netflix to decide when to release it.

Finally, Season 1 was released on January 1, 2019. Before the show started, a short video was released. It was 99 seconds long and showed Pinky making his New Year's resolutions.
