A possible fossil of this snail was found in ancient rocks from the Itaboraí Basin. Fossils of Plagiodontes dentatus have also been discovered in Uruguay from the Miocene period. Even more fossils have been found in Argentina from both the Miocene and Pleistocene periods. This shows that these snails have been around for a very, very long time!
