Poitou-Charentes was a region in the western part of France. It used to be its own administrative area. In 2016, it became part of a larger region called Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
This area is located near the Atlantic Ocean. Its main city, or capital, was Poitiers. Around 1.7 million people lived in Poitou-Charentes in 2007.
