Pokey Reddick's Hockey Journey
Early Hockey Days
When he was young, Pokey played in a big hockey tournament for kids. It was called the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He played there in 1977 with a team from Toronto.
Playing in the NHL
Pokey played for many teams during his career. He spent most of his time in smaller leagues. But he also played in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, and Florida Panthers.
In 1990, he won the Stanley Cup Championship with the Edmonton Oilers. He was the backup goaltender to Bill Ranford. This happened because the main goalie, Grant Fuhr, was hurt. During his time with the Winnipeg Jets, he and Daniel Berthiaume were known as the "Pokey and the Bandit" goalie team.
Unique Hockey Records
Pokey Reddick holds a special record in the NHL. He played in 132 games without ever getting a shutout. A shutout is when a goalie stops every single shot and doesn't let the other team score any goals.
He also has another unique record. In 1993, he played for the Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL. He went through three rounds of playoffs without losing a single game! This helped his team win their first championship in 20 years.
