Playing Hockey
As a young player, Pokey Reddick played in a big hockey tournament called the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in 1977. He was part of a team from Toronto.
Pokey's NHL Journey
Pokey spent most of his hockey career playing for different teams in smaller leagues. However, he also played in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, and Florida Panthers.
In 1990, he won the famous Stanley Cup Championship with the Edmonton Oilers. He was the backup goalie to Bill Ranford that season. The team's main goalie, Grant Fuhr, was injured, so Pokey stepped in to help.
While playing for the Winnipeg Jets, Pokey Reddick and another goalie, Daniel Berthiaume, were known as the "Pokey and the Bandit" duo.
Unique Hockey Records
Pokey Reddick holds a special record in the National Hockey League. He played in 132 NHL games without ever getting a shutout. A shutout is when a goalie stops every single shot and doesn't let the other team score any goals during a game.
He also has another amazing record. He is the only goalie in professional hockey to go through a three-round playoff series without losing a single game! He did this with the Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL in 1993. Pokey had a super low 1.49 goals-against average in 12 playoff games, helping his team win their first championship in 20 years.

Pokey used to be an assistant coach for the Tri-City Storm in the USHL. He lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a tournament director at the Las Vegas Ice Center until April 2014. He also coached the Las Vegas Storm Midget U16 AAA hockey team until April 2013. In 2018-2019, he coached the first high school hockey team in Nevada at Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School.
