Taurus Tremani Bartlett (born January 6, 1999), known professionally as Polo G, is an American rapper. He became well-known with his songs "Finer Things" and "Pop Out" (featuring Lil Tjay). His first album, Die a Legend (2019), reached number six on the US Billboard 200 chart. It was also certified double platinum, meaning it sold over two million copies. His next two albums also achieved this success.
Bartlett's second album, The Goat (2020), reached number two on the Billboard 200. Ten songs from this album appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His third album, Hall of Fame (2021), was very successful. It became his first album to reach number one, and it included his first number-one song, "Rapstar".

Early Life and Beginnings
Taurus Tremani Bartlett was born on January 6, 1999, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in the Old Town neighborhood. His mother, Stacia Mac, used to manage properties and now works as his manager. Polo G is the second of four children. He has an older sister, a younger brother named Taurean (who also raps as Trench Baby), and a younger sister.
After finishing high school, Bartlett was accepted into Lincoln University (Pennsylvania). He planned to study broadcasting. However, on his first day, he decided to focus on his music career full-time instead.
Starting His Music Career
Polo G's very first song was called "ODA," which he shared on YouTube. In 2018, he created a SoundCloud account. He then released the song "Gang with Me," which quickly gained millions of listens. He continued to get attention with songs like "Welcome Back" and "Neva Cared."
Later in 2018, Bartlett released "Finer Things." He wrote this song while he was in a difficult situation. The song quickly received millions of views.
Rising to Fame
Signing a Record Deal
In early 2019, Bartlett released "Pop Out" featuring Lil Tjay. This song became very popular, reaching number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The music video for "Pop Out" has been watched over 200 million times on YouTube. This success led him to sign a record deal with Columbia Records.
Bartlett also released music videos for other songs from his first album. These included "Deep Wounds," "Through da Storm," "Effortless," and "Dyin' Breed." His first album, Die a Legend, was released on June 7, 2019. It reached number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. Later in 2019, he released the song "Heartless," which was produced by Mustard. Success with The Goat and Hall of Fame
On February 14, 2020, Bartlett released the song "Go Stupid." He worked with rappers Stunna 4 Vegas and NLE Choppa on this track. "Go Stupid" was his second song to appear on the Hot 100 chart, reaching number 60.
His second album, The Goat, came out on May 15, 2020. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Ten songs from this album made it onto the Hot 100 chart. These included "Flex" featuring Juice Wrld and "Be Something" featuring Lil Baby. In the same month, he was featured on "3 Headed Goat" by Lil Durk alongside Lil Baby.
In July 2020, Bartlett was featured on Juice Wrld's album Legends Never Die on the song "Hate the Other Side". This song reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his first song to reach the top ten. In August, he was recognized in XXL magazine's 2020 Freshman Class, which highlights rising hip-hop artists. Later that month, he released the music video for his song "Martin & Gina," which reached number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. In September, he released the song "Epidemic," which peaked at number 47.

On February 5, 2021, he released the song "GNF (OKOKOK)". He was also featured on the soundtrack for the film Judas and the Black Messiah with the song "Last Man Standing." He released the album's fourth song, "Gang Gang" with Lil Wayne, on May 21. This song reached number 33 on the Hot 100.
On June 11, 2021, Bartlett released Hall of Fame. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, becoming his first album to reach the top spot. It sold 143,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. He released Hall of Fame 2.0, a special edition of the album, on December 3, 2021. This version included fourteen new songs and featured other artists like Lil Baby and NLE Choppa.

New Singles and Hood Poet
On June 3, 2022, Bartlett released "Distraction." A music video for the song was released on the same day. "Distraction" reached number 66 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Bartlett released several other songs in late 2022 and early 2023. These included "Bag Talk" and "My All," which had a music video released on the Lyrical Lemonade YouTube channel. He also released "No Time Wasted" featuring rapper Future.
On March 31, 2023, he was featured on the song "Grown Man" by DJ Marshmello and producer Southside. On April 14, he was featured on NLE Choppa's album Cottonwood 2 on the song "Disability Checks" alongside G Herbo. On May 5, he was featured on SleazyWorld Go's song "Off The Court." On July 14, he was featured on two albums: Grandson by King Von on the song "Phil Jackson," and 222 by Lil Tjay on "Beat The Odds Part 2." On July 21, he was featured on the country song "Heartbroken" by Diplo and Jessie Murph, which reached number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100.
On August 11, 2023, Bartlett made history by becoming the first and only rapper to have all of his albums certified double-platinum.
On August 15, 2023, Bartlett officially announced his next album, Hood Poet. The album's title is an acronym for "He Overcame Obstacles During Pain or Emotional Trauma." He also announced a song called "Barely Holdin' On" for release. The album Hood Poet was released in August 2024.
On February 16, 2024, Bartlett released the song "Sorrys & Ferraris".
Music Style
Polo G's music is often linked to the Chicago drill sound. This style is known for its melodic sound. He often raps over beats that feature piano, which he says he has mastered.
