Premier is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Jura-Nord Vaudois area. It is part of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

History
Premier was first mentioned in official records in the year 1403. Back then, it was known as Prumyer.
Long ago, in the 1300s, there was a small settlement called Lanfrey. This hamlet was located very close to where Premier is today. However, by the 1400s, Lanfrey had disappeared.
Geography
Premier covers an area of about 6.1 square kilometers (2.4 square miles). This is roughly the size of 610 football fields!
Almost half of this land, about 47.4%, is used for farming. Another large part, about 48.4%, is covered by forests. The remaining small portion, about 2.9%, has buildings and roads.
Most of the forested land is dense forest. A small part has orchards or groups of trees. The farmland is used for growing crops, pastures for animals, and alpine pastures.
Premier is located at the base of a mountain called Mont-Buffet. The town itself is a linear village, meaning it stretches out in a line.

The official design of Premier's coat of arms is quite special. It shows a plum tree with green leaves and blue plums. This tree is placed on a shield that is half silver and half red.
