Vallorbe is a cool town in the Vaud area of Switzerland. It's located in the Jura-Nord Vaudois region. Vallorbe is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and its important railway station.

History of Vallorbe
Vallorbe was first mentioned in old records way back in 1139. Back then, it was called de valle urbanensi. A few years later, in 1148, it was known as de valle urbe.

Vallorbe covers an area of about 23.2 square kilometers (about 9 square miles). A big part of this land, about 66.7%, is covered by forests. About 22.1% of the land is used for farming, and 9.4% has buildings and roads. Rivers and lakes make up about 1.2% of the area.
The town is right on the border between Switzerland and France. It's surrounded by mountains on three sides, with heights ranging from 610 meters (2,000 feet) to 1,480 meters (4,856 feet). The valley opens up on the east side, thanks to the Jougnenaz and Orbe rivers. Vallorbe also includes smaller areas called Le Day, Le Creux, and Bellevue.
