Presnel Kimpembe, born on August 13, 1995, is a French professional footballer. He plays as a centre-back (a defender) for the famous club Paris Saint-Germain.

His Early Life
Presnel Kimpembe was born in Beaumont-sur-Oise, France. His father is from Congo, and his mother is Afro-Haitian. He was named after his mother's father.
Playing for Clubs
Starting His Professional Career
Kimpembe began his professional journey with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He played his first game on October 17, 2014, against Lens. He came into the game in the 76th minute, helping PSG win 3–1.
Playing in the Champions League
He made his debut in the UEFA Champions League on February 14, 2017. In that game, PSG won 4–0 against Barcelona, and Kimpembe helped keep the opponent from scoring.
First Goals and Important Matches
On February 12, 2019, Kimpembe scored his first goal for PSG. It was against Manchester United at their home stadium, Old Trafford. He scored from a corner kick. However, in the next game against Manchester United, a penalty was given against PSG because the ball touched his hand. PSG lost that game and was knocked out of the competition.
Contract and Injuries
Kimpembe signed a new contract with PSG on July 11, 2020, which lasted until 2024. In the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League, PSG reached the final but lost 1–0 to Bayern Munich. Kimpembe played in that final match.
He scored his second goal for PSG on January 3, 2022, in a 4–0 Coupe de France win. He also helped set up a goal for Kylian Mbappé. Kimpembe scored his first goal in the Ligue 1 league on February 6, 2022, in a 5–1 win against Lille. During the 2021–22 season, he was known for his excellent passing, completing 95.5% of his passes.
On February 26, 2023, Kimpembe suffered a serious injury to his Achilles tendon. This injury required surgery and kept him from playing for a long time. He had just returned from another injury that had sidelined him for three months. On December 20, 2023, he extended his contract with PSG until 2026. He had another surgery in January 2024, which meant he missed the entire 2023–24 season.
Kimpembe made his return to play for PSG on February 4, 2025. This was almost two years after his major injury. He played in a 2–0 win against Le Mans in the Coupe de France.
Playing for France
Joining the National Team
Kimpembe was first called to play for the senior France team in October 2016. This was for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games. A former player, William Gallas, said in 2018 that Kimpembe was the future of the French team. Kimpembe finally played his first game for France on March 27, 2018. It was a friendly match against Russia, which France won 3–1.
World Cup Success
On May 17, 2018, he was chosen to be part of the 23-player squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. France went on to win the tournament in 2018. Kimpembe played one game in the tournament, against Denmark in the group stage.
UEFA Euro and Another World Cup
He was also called up for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament on May 18, 2021. He played in all four matches for France in that tournament. On November 9, 2022, he was named in the French squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. However, he had to withdraw from the tournament on November 14 due to an injury.
Personal Life and Interests
Nickname and Voice Acting
In July 2018, Kimpembe's name was mentioned in a popular song called "Ramenez la coupe à la maison." The song's line, "Maestro Kimpembe," gave him the nickname 'Maestro'.
Kimpembe also used his voice for the French version of the 2018 Marvel film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He voiced the character Scorpion.
Other Projects
In June 2020, Kimpembe started his own streetwear clothing collection called PK3 Paris. On November 1, 2021, he organized an auction. Objects from sportspeople were sold to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières. The money helped the people of Haiti.
Kimpembe is a Muslim.
