Preston is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is part of an area called Holderness. Preston is also a civil parish, which is a local area with its own council.
The village is about 6 miles (10 km) east of Hull city centre. You can find it just north of the A1033 road. It sits where the B1240 and B1362 roads meet.
The civil parish of Preston includes the main village and a smaller area called Salt End.

In 2011, a count of the population was done across the United Kingdom. This count is called a census. The 2011 UK census showed that Preston parish had 3,258 people living there. This was a small increase from the 3,100 people counted in the 2001 UK census.

All Saints Church
The main church in Preston is called All Saints Church. It is a very old and important building. It has a special status as a Grade I listed building. This means it is considered to be of exceptional historical or architectural interest.
Schools in Preston
Preston has schools for different age groups. There is Preston Primary School for younger children. For older students, there is Holderness Academy.
Holderness Academy used to be called South Holderness Technology College. It became a special "Technology College" in 1997. Later, it changed to an academy. An academy is a type of school in England that is funded by the government but run independently.
The academy also has a sixth form. This is for students aged 16 to 18 who want to continue their education. Holderness Academy serves students from many nearby villages. These include Paull, Hedon, Bilton, Skirlaugh, Keyingham, Thorngumbald, Aldbrough, West Newton, Burton Constable, and Sproatley.

New Crematorium
In February 2023, a new building opened in Preston. It is a crematorium, which is a place where bodies are cremated. This new facility cost £9.6 million to build. It is run by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. You can find it off Sproatley Road.
