Rachel Leah Bloom (born April 3, 1987) is an American actress, comedian, singer, writer, and producer. She is most famous for co-creating and starring as Rebecca Bunch in the musical TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015–2019).
For her role in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, she won many awards. These include a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award.
Bloom first became popular by making funny music videos for YouTube. One of her most famous early videos was a song nominated for a Hugo Award. She has also acted in movies like The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019) and Trolls World Tour (2020). In 2020, she wrote a book about her life called I Want to Be Where the Normal People Are.

Early Life and Education
Rachel Bloom was born in Los Angeles County, California. She grew up in the city of Manhattan Beach as an only child. Her mother, Shelli, is a musician, and her father, Alan, is a lawyer.
Bloom went to public schools and was very active in the drama program at her high school. She has said that performing was a way for her to make friends and fit in.
In 2009, she graduated from New York University's (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Drama. At NYU, she was a writer and director for a student comedy group. She started performing comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, a famous comedy club.
Career Beginnings
In 2010, Bloom made a music video for her song "... Me, Ray Bradbury." The song was a funny tribute to the science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury. The video became very popular on her YouTube channel, "RachelDoesStuff." It helped her gain many fans. The video was even nominated for a Hugo Award in 2011.
While in college, Bloom was an intern for the famous TV show Saturday Night Live. In 2012, she auditioned for the show but was not cast. For her audition, she pretended to be the actress Katharine Hepburn voicing the cartoon character Bugs Bunny.

Success with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Bloom's biggest success came with the TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She created the show with Aline Brosh McKenna. Bloom also starred as the main character, Rebecca Bunch. The show is a comedy with many musical numbers that Bloom helped write.
