Ram Naik (born 17 April 1934) is an experienced Indian politician. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the 19th Governor of Uttar Pradesh, a large state in India.

Ram Naik's Political Journey
Ram Naik has had a long and active political journey. He was a member of the Lok Sabha, which is like the main parliament of India. He served in the Lok Sabha from 1989 to 2004.
Working as a Minister
From 1999 to 2004, he was the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. This was during the time Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. He also served briefly as the Minister of Railways in 1998.
Ram Naik helped start the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme. This program allows Members of Parliament to suggest development projects in their local areas.
Early Political Steps
Ram Naik has been a volunteer with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since he was a child. He also has a law degree. He began his political career in 1964 with the Bharatiya Jana Sangh party.
He was involved in helping train commuters in Mumbai. Later, he represented the Borivali area in the state assembly of Maharashtra. He was elected three times.
Governor of Uttar Pradesh
In 2013, Ram Naik announced that he would not run for the Lok Sabha again. On 14 July 2014, he was chosen to be the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. He served in this important role until 2019.
As Governor, he represented the President of India in the state. He made statements about important topics during his time in office.

Ram Naik was born in the Sangli district of Maharashtra state. He married Kunda Naik on 17 May 1960. They have two daughters.
