Ram Naik (born on April 17, 1934) is an experienced Indian politician. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the 19th Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

Ram Naik's Journey in Politics
Ram Naik has had a long and important career in Indian politics. He was a member of the Lok Sabha, which is like one of the main houses of the Indian Parliament.
Early Political Steps
Ram Naik started his political journey in 1964. He joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh party. He also helped organize groups of train commuters in Mumbai. This showed his early interest in helping people.
He was elected to the state assembly from Borivali in 1978. He won this election two more times.
Serving in the Government
From 1999 to 2004, Ram Naik was the Minister of Oil and Natural Gas. He worked under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also served as the Minister of State for Railways in 1998. During this time, he helped create the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation. This corporation works to improve Mumbai's railway system.
He also played a key role in starting the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme. This scheme helps Members of Parliament use funds for development projects in their local areas.
Later Career and Governorship
In 2004, Ram Naik ran for the 14th Lok Sabha from Mumbai North. However, he lost to the famous Bollywood actor Govinda.
In September 2013, Ram Naik announced he would not run in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. On July 14, 2014, he was appointed as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. He served in this role until July 28, 2019.

Ram Naik was born in the Sangli district of Maharashtra state. He married Kunda Naik on May 17, 1960. They have two daughters.
