Edmundo Gómez Moreno (born 17 February 1991), known as Raymix, is a Mexican musician and aerospace engineer. People call him El Rey de la Electrocumbia ("The King of Electrocumbia"). Raymix started his music journey in the early 2010s. He joined a music group called Light & Wave. Their song "Feeling the City" was played on a famous radio show called A State of Trance. In 2013, Raymix got to work at NASA. He helped build a satellite there.

Around 2015, Raymix became very popular. This was thanks to his song "Oye Mujer". This song was well-known among street vendors and music fans. Raymix signed with Universal Music Latin Entertainment. In 2018, he released his first album, also called Oye Mujer. Later that year, "Oye Mujer" was released again. It was also remixed as a duet with the Colombian singer Juanes. The song became number one on several Billboard music charts. It also sold millions of copies, earning many awards.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Edmundo Gómez Moreno was born on 17 February 1991. He grew up in San José El Vidrio, a town in State of Mexico. Many people in his family are musicians. His grandfather, cousin, and father all play music. His father is a grupero musician.

When Raymix was a child, he learned to play the keyboard. His father taught him songs by Los Tigres del Norte. He also learned to sing and play drums, guitar, and organ at church.

On his 18th birthday, Raymix received a MIDI controller. This helped him start writing trance songs. Between 2011 and 2012, he formed Light & Wave with two other musicians. Their song "Feeling the City" was played on Armin van Buuren's radio show.

Around this time, Raymix was studying aerospace engineering. He went to the Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico City. In 2013, he joined a NASA program. He helped create an education satellite there. While at NASA, he listened to cumbias. In 2014, he wrote "Oye Mujer". Raymix recorded a music video for the song using simple equipment. In 2015, he could not find a job in the US, even with his great education.

Becoming Famous with Oye Mujer (2015–2019)

"Oye Mujer" quickly became popular. It spread widely among music fans and street markets. In 2016, Raymix went on his first tour in the United States. Big music companies like Sony Music and Warner Music contacted him. He decided to sign with Universal Music.

His first album, Oye Mujer, came out on 16 February 2018. The album did very well on Billboard charts. It reached number 3 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. It also earned Platinum awards in Mexico.

In April 2018, a new version of "Oye Mujer" was released. It was a duet with the Colombian singer Juanes. In the United States, this song became number one on the Tropical Airplay chart. It stayed there for 11 weeks. It was also the most played song on two charts that year. The song sold millions of copies.

Other songs from the Oye Mujer album also became hits. These include "Dónde Estarás", "Perdóname", "Ángel Malvado", and "Primer Beso". All of them received awards for their sales.

New Music and Collaborations (2019–Present)

In 2019, Raymix released an extended play (EP) called Fake Lover. The first song from it was "Tú Eres la Razón (Electrocumbia Remake)". This song was originally by la Arrolladora Banda El Limón. Raymix also worked with other artists on a remix of Juan Gabriel's "El Noa Noa".

In March 2020, Raymix teamed up with Mexican pop singer Paulina Rubio. They released the song "Tú y Yo". This song was very successful. It reached number one on several charts in Mexico. It also did well in the US.

Raymix continued to release new music and work with other artists. In May 2020, he released "Olvídame Tú" with ICC. In June, he worked with Karla Vallín on "Te Quito la Pena". The next month, he collaborated with Juan Solo on "Masoquista". In August 2020, he released "Y Se Dio" with Spanish musician Juan Magán.

Later that month, he released "Llámame". Raymix said this song was about his own life. It told the story of his first relationship. The music video was directed by his brother. The song reached number 3 on the Tropical Airplay chart. Raymix also performed at the OutMusik Fest. This festival featured musicians who support being true to yourself.

Raymix's Music Style

Raymix calls his music style "electrocumbia". It mixes different kinds of electronic music like trance and house with cumbia music. His stage name "Raymix" comes from a nickname, "Ray", and "Mix". He chose "Mix" because he loves electronic music. A friend gave him the name in college. Raymix is also known as "El Rey de la Electrocumbia", meaning "The King of Electrocumbia".
