Raymond Martin, born on May 22, 1949, is a former professional road bicycle racer from France. He was known for his strong performances in major cycling races. One of his biggest achievements was in the 1980 Tour de France, where he finished third overall. He also won the special "mountains classification" in that same race. Before turning professional, Raymond Martin even competed in the individual road race at the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Raymond Martin had a successful career as a professional cyclist. He raced for several teams, including Gitane–Frigécrème, Sonolor–Gitane, and Miko–Mercier–Hutchinson. He was known for his climbing skills, especially in races with many hills and mountains.
Early Wins and Achievements
In 1972, before becoming a professional, Raymond Martin won a stage in the Grand Prix Guillaume Tell. He also showed his talent by finishing sixth overall in the Tour de l'Avenir, winning one stage there.
After turning professional in 1973, he continued to achieve good results:
