Reema Major's Early Life
Reema Major was born in Khartoum, Sudan. Her mother moved to Kenya, then Uganda. In 1998, they settled in Canada through a special program for refugees.
When Reema was five, her cousin introduced her to hip hop music. She saw people rapping outside their apartment building. This sparked her love for music.
Reema loved to rap and write songs from a young age. She speaks both English and Arabic. She used her experiences and background to become a great rapper and songwriter. She felt that making music came very naturally to her.
Reema Major's Music Career
In 2009, Reema met Kwajo Cinqo. He is the head of G7 Records and a member of the hip hop group Ghetto Concept. In 2010, Reema signed a big music deal. This deal was with G7 Records, Universal Music, and Interscope. It was a special moment because it was the first time Universal Music Group signed a direct deal with a Canadian urban music label.
Reema Major performed at the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards. She was the youngest Canadian female rapper to ever perform there. That same year, she was also featured on Royalty Radio 91.9 FM.

Reema Major released her first mixtape, Youngest In Charge, in 2009. A mixtape is like an album, but often released for free. She then released 15 Going on 25 in October 2010. Her mixtape I Am Legend came out on May 27, 2011.
Reema has performed with famous artists like Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, and Big Boi from Outkast. She also worked with producers like Bangladesh and DJ Toomp. She collaborated with rappers Kwajo Cinqo and Rick Ross.
In September 2011, Reema opened for Wiz Khalifa's tour in Toronto. She also released her song "I'm The One" from her I Am Legend mixtape. The music video for "I'm The One" was filmed in Miami, Florida, and featured Rick Ross.
