Regé-Jean Page (pronounced reh-GAY JONN PAYJ) is an English actor. He became very well known for his role in the first season of the Netflix show Bridgerton in 2020.
He has also acted in other TV series like Waterloo Road (2015), Roots (2016), and For the People (2018–2019). More recently, he appeared in the action movie The Gray Man (2022) and the fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023).

Early Life and Education
Regé-Jean Page was born in London, England, in April 1988. His mother was a nurse from Zimbabwe, and his father was an English preacher.
He has a brother named Tose Page. They even had a band together called Tunya. Regé-Jean spent his early childhood in Harare, Zimbabwe, where his mother was from. Later, he moved back to London for high school.
During his school years, he started acting as a hobby. He also studied sound engineering at the Northern Technical College. After trying out for acting schools for two years, he was accepted into Drama Centre London.
Acting Career
Regé-Jean Page's first acting job was in 2001. He played a character named Tanaka in a TV series called Gimme 6. After that, he had small roles in British TV shows. These included Casualty@Holby City in 2005, Fresh Meat in 2013, and Waterloo Road in 2015.
Early Stage and American Debut
On stage, he performed in plays like The History Boys in 2013. He also acted in The Merchant of Venice in 2015.
In 2016, Page made his first appearance in an American TV show. He played Chicken George in the History Channel miniseries Roots. This show was a new version of a famous 1977 miniseries. Both were based on the book Roots: The Saga of an American Family by Alex Haley.
In 2017, he got a supporting role in the legal drama For the People. This show was produced by Shondaland, a company owned by Shonda Rhimes. The series ran for two seasons.
Big Roles in Movies and TV
Page also had smaller roles in movies. He was in the post-apocalyptic film Mortal Engines in 2018. He also appeared in the drama film Sylvie's Love in 2020.
Bridgerton Success
In 2019, Regé-Jean Page was chosen for a main role in Bridgerton. This was another show from Shondaland for Netflix. Bridgerton is a period drama based on the book The Duke and I. It was released in December 2020 and became very popular.
Page's performance in Bridgerton earned him an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. This award is given by the NAACP, which supports people of color. Time magazine also named him one of their "100 Next" rising stars in 2021. He was even nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his role.
Page did not return for the second season of Bridgerton. He had only signed a contract for one season. He wanted to try other acting opportunities.
Recent Film Roles
In 2022, Page starred in the Netflix movie The Gray Man. In this film, he played a villain. That same year, he became the face of Armani Code, a perfume brand.
Page also played a character named Xenk Yendar in the fantasy movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023). This movie received good reviews from critics.
