Reyna Roberts is an American country singer, songwriter, and pianist. She became well-known for her music and for being featured on Beyoncé's song "Blackbiird". This song was very popular, reaching number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was also nominated for two People's Choice Country Awards in 2024.
Roberts made history as the first female country artist to perform at a Rolling Loud music festival. She has shared the stage with famous musicians like Luke Combs and Orville Peck. She has also toured with country legends such as Reba McEntire and Jamey Johnson. Her song "Stompin' Grounds" was even played many times on ESPN's Monday Night Football. Early Life and Music Beginnings
Reyna Roberts was born on August 15, 1997, in Anchorage, Alaska. Her parents were both engineers in the Army. She grew up living in different states like Alabama and California. When she was born, she was two months early and weighed only two pounds. Doctors suggested playing music for her to help her brain develop.
Reyna first performed music when she was just three years old at a karaoke bar in Alaska. When she was 10, her family lost their home. But they made sure to keep her piano in a storage unit so she could keep practicing. She played her piano in that storage unit for three years.
Her family moved many times during her childhood, living in Alaska, Alabama, Tennessee, and California. Their move to California was specifically to help her music career grow. In high school, Reyna was on the wrestling team. She started writing songs to impress the team captain. She recorded one of these songs, "Lying to Myself," in 2014. In 2016, she released an EP called The Beginning, which included the song "I'm Coming For Ya." She also toured around the U.S. as a guest on the Spring High School Nation Tour, performing alongside groups like the Plain White T's.
Reyna Roberts' Music Career
From 2018 to 2020, Reyna Roberts lived in both Nashville and Los Angeles. She attended songwriting camps to improve her skills and meet other artists. During this time, she met her managers, Ryan McMahan and Larry Pareigis. She then moved permanently to Nashville in March 2020.
Gaining Recognition
In June 2020, country singer Mickey Guyton shared a video of Reyna Roberts singing a cover of Carrie Underwood's song "Drinking Alone." Carrie Underwood then retweeted the video, which brought Reyna a lot of attention in the country music world. Reyna said she was "stunned" by Carrie Underwood's kindness. In July 2020, Reyna released her song "Stompin' Grounds." Rolling Stone magazine wrote that it was good enough to be a top country radio hit.
