Claudiney Ramos (born March 15, 1980 – died July 8, 2013) was a professional footballer. He played as a defensive midfielder, a player who helps protect the defense. People called him Rincón because he looked a lot like a famous Colombian player named Freddy Rincón. Claudiney was born in Brazil but later played for the national football team of Equatorial Guinea.

Playing for His Country

Rincón was one of many Brazilian players who became citizens of Equatorial Guinea in September 2012. This was done to make their national football team stronger. They wanted to try and win a game against Congo DR to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Rincón played his first game for Equatorial Guinea on October 14, 2012. It was the second match against Congo DR. His team won 2–1, but it wasn't enough for them to move on in the competition.

In March of the next year, Rincón scored a very important goal. It was the winning goal in a game against Cape Verde. This game was part of the qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was a big moment for him on the international stage. However, after he passed away, FIFA later decided that Cape Verde should get the points for that match. This was because one of Rincón's teammates, Emilio Nsue, was not allowed to play by the rules.

His Passing

Rincón played three games for Equatorial Guinea in June 2013. These included two World Cup qualifying matches and one friendly game. During this trip, he caught malaria, a serious illness spread by mosquitoes.

About three weeks later, back in Brazil, he started feeling sick. He was taken to a hospital in Sorocaba. Sadly, Rincón passed away on the morning of July 8, 2013. He was 33 years old. At the time of his death, he was playing for EC Avenida.
