Rivenhall has its own primary school. It is called Rivenhall Church of England School. For getting around, the village is close to the busy A12 highway. You can also find Witham railway station nearby for train travel.
History of Rivenhall's Church
The village is home to the St. Mary and All Saints church. This church is very old. It was likely built between the 8th and 9th centuries. The church and a nearby manor house have been used by people for a very long time. They even started as parts of a Roman villa. The church is considered a very important historical building. It is a Grade I listed building. This means it has special historical value.
Rivenhall's Airfield History
Rivenhall also used to have an airfield. This was a place where airplanes could take off and land. It was called RAF Rivenhall. RAF stands for Royal Air Force.
How Rivenhall Became a Parish Again
A civil parish is a local area with its own council. On October 1, 1933, Rivenhall stopped being a separate parish. It joined with Witham. Then, on April 1, 1982, Rivenhall became a parish again. This means it got its own local government back.
