Rogan's Seat is a tall, remote hill in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in England. It's found near small places called East Stonesdale and Gunnerside Gill.
This hill is a large area of open, wild land called moorland. It stretches out next to valleys like Swaledale and Gunnerside Gill. Rogan's Seat is one of the highest hills in North Yorkshire. It shares the 17th highest spot with another hill, Great Knoutberry Hill.
For a while, people weren't sure exactly how to walk to the very top of Rogan's Seat. The owners of the land, which is used for grouse birds, were kind. They allowed walkers to use paths even if they weren't official public routes. This hill is quite popular, especially since it's only about 2 kilometres from some lovely waterfalls in Gunnerside Gill.

Rogan's Seat: A Yorkshire Dales Hill
Rogan's Seat is a great place for an adventure in the Yorkshire Dales. It's known for its wide-open spaces and quiet feel. Many people enjoy exploring this part of England's countryside.
Where is Rogan's Seat?
This hill is located in the northern part of England. It's part of the famous Yorkshire Dales National Park. The area around it is mostly open moorland. This means it's a wild, natural landscape.
It sits high above the nearby valleys. These valleys include Swaledale and Gunnerside Gill. The hill is a big part of the local scenery.
Getting to the Top
The best way to reach the top of Rogan's Seat is to start from Gunnerside Gill. You can follow a special path called a bridleway. This path goes north for about 2 kilometres.
The path is mostly flat, which makes the walk fairly easy. However, some explorers might find walking back the same way a bit boring. It's a good idea to plan your route carefully.
What Can You See?
The views from Rogan's Seat are mostly of the wide moorland. Because the land is so open and flat on top, you don't get many dramatic views right away.
However, on a clear day, you can see some other famous hills far away to the west. These include Great Shunner Fell, Ingleborough, and Whernside. These are some of the biggest hills in the Yorkshire Dales.
Water Crag: A Nearby Peak
Just to the northeast of Rogan's Seat, there's another smaller peak called Water Crag. It has a special marker called a trig point at its summit. This marker helps people measure distances and heights.
Water Crag is almost as tall as Rogan's Seat. It stands at 668 metres (2,192 feet) high. It's another interesting spot to visit in the area.
